The track and field athletes competed in Charlevoix on Friday at the Regional meet. The boys finished 6th and the girls finished 8th of 14 scoring teams. This was the girls’s highest placing finish since at least 2014 based on the available records.
Top 8 finishers scored points and earned medals for the Blazers
The boys and girls teams placed in the 4×800 relay. Sam Bowman, Zoe Hilmert, Kelly Dishman and Serena Hardy finished 7th for the girls and Nathan Blasko, Tyler Guggemos, Grant Ryckman and Hayden Moore finished in 5th for the 3200
Both teams scored 6th place finishes in the 4×400 relay. Gracie Matley, Serena Hardy, Payton McKenzie, and Abby Nelson ran for the girls and Cole McKenzie, Keegan Burley, Nathan Blasko, and Hunter Dennis represented the boys.
The girls 4×200 relay of Abby Nelson, Morgan Bourne, Alexis Rosenburg and Payton McKenzie took 6th place.
The following placed as individuals
Morgan Bourne, 7th in the long jump
Serena Hardy, tied for 7th in the high jump
Gracie Matley took 7th in the 300 hurdles
Keegan Burley was 7th in the 400
Nathan Blasko tied for 6th in the high jump and took 4th in the 800
Tyler Guggemos took 3rd in the 3200
Cole McKenzie took 5th in the 110 Hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles, winning a spot in that event at the State Meet on June 1st
Catilyn Weir finished 2nd in the 100 hurdles and in the 300 hurdles, so she will represent Kalkaska at the state meet in both events.
