Kalkaska Blazers took home a 5-1 victory over Elk Rapids on Monday.
The Blazers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Jaime Potter singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Blazers tallied three runs in the fifth inning. Kalkaska’s big inning was driven by singles by Kayla Cavanaugh, Loren Schwab, and Ayla Gustafson.
Schwab was the winning pitcher for Kalkaska. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out five and walking one.
Cavanaugh led the Blazers with two hits in three at bats. Kalkaska stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Cavanaugh led the way with three.
