Kalkaska Blazers defeated Reed City 12-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Mia Miller induced a groundout from Bentley to finish off the game.
Blazers got things moving in the first inning. Angela Iott drew a walk, scoring one run.
Kalkaska Blazers Varsity tallied five runs in the second inning. Loren Schwab, Iott, Ayla Gustafson, Jaime Potter, and Maddy Wilkinson powered the big inning with RBIs.
Sam Michelin took the win for Kalkaska Blazers Varsity. She went four innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Miller threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Blazers racked up 11 hits on the day. Iott, Schwab, and Gustafson all managed multiple hits for Blazers. Iott led the way with three hits in three at bats. Kalkaska was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
